PDP GIVES BUHARI 10 DAYS TO NAME CABINET

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given President Muhammadu Buhari ten days to set up his cabinet, saying Nigerians did not vote for a sole administrator.
The party also insisted that Buhari and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), must fulfil their campaign promises to Nigerians and confront insurgency with vigour.
In a statement yesterday in Abuja, PDP national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, said after a careful evaluation of the first 30 days of President Buhari in office by the PDP, it has become obvious that Nigerians need to join hands in prayers to save the government from further “inaction and dithering.”
The party said the call for prayers has become necessary given the fact that the administration is finding it difficult to locate its bearing and even take off and face the challenges of governance at the centre, resulting in 30 days of “all motion and no movement,” a scenario it said does not augur well for the polity.

Just Imagine What These People Are Doing

That was how millions of Nigerians wanted to land Prof. Attahiru Jega and INEC in trouble by waiting until the very last days before coming out in droves for their PVCs, yet some politicians were busy shouting from the roof top that Jega should have given people more time to collect PVCs before the elections.

Give some Nigerians till 2020, many of them will still wait for the last days before coming out.

Now it is BVN:
The CBN and the Banks have been begging customers to take a few minutes and register for their BVN, many have been forming too busy. But two days to the deadline all the busy people came out, some broke the gate of a bank branch, others damaged chairs and tables, all in a bid to register for BVN on the last days.

Character is everything... If you don't train yourself to be good, you will remain stupid. Simple!

Couple suffer lonley deaths after man jumped off ship to save fiancee(Photos)

The death of a newly engaged couple has been blamed on the woman who fell to her death off a cruise ship ..It was revealed that, she may have been trying to make a dramatic gesture to 'alarm and test' her fiance,by falling overboard..

Kristen Schroder, 27, slipped from a fifth-level balcony on the Carnival Spirit cruise ship off the coast of NSW ,after climbing over the hand rail. Her 30-year-old partner, Paul Rossington, jumped nearly 20 metres into the Tasman Sea moments after in a bid to rescue her.

The couple's bodies were never found and an inquest into the newly engaged couple's deaths was told there was little chance either survived for more than a few hours in the water.Deputy state coroner Hugh Dillon handed down his findings on Tuesday.

'The deaths of Kristen and Paul are even more distressing than most because of the loneliness of their deaths in a dark ocean, and because they had gone on the cruise in the hope of restoring and reinforcing their relationship,' he said.'Paradoxically, what they had struggled to to achieve in life - loving unity - they perhaps managed in their last actions alive.'
The holiday was believed to have been a 'make-or-break' situation for the couple's 10-month relationship.
Why Kristen stepped over the railing of the cabin is not known. There is no suggestion that she felt threatened by Paul. It seems improbable that she was intending to end her own life,' Mr Dillon said.
'The most likely explanation is that Kristen, being unafraid of heights, was making a dramatic gesture to alarm and test Paul.'
CCTV footage capturing the final moments of the couple was played at the inquest, including what appeared to be a fight in the ship's casino hours before their deaths on May 8.

Infared footage from later that night captured a figure, believed to be Ms Schroder, climbing over the balcony of their cabin about 9pm before slipping, hanging on for four seconds and then falling.

Ms Schroder plunged more than six metres before she struck level three of the ship and plummeted a further 12.6 metres into the ocean.

Seconds later, Mr Rossington can be seen diving overboard..Their disappearance wasn't noticed until 10am the following day when they failed to disembark in Sydney with Ms Schroder's family.

BREAKING : Jega Hands Over To Wali

Professor Attahiru Jega has finally bowed out as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) on Tuesday after five years of meritorious service to the nation .
Jega, who received accolades from Nigerians home and abroad as well as the international communities for his dignified contributions to the success of the 2015 general election, hands over to
Ambassador ( Dr .) Ahmed Wali.
Before his appointment as National Commissioners of the ( INEC) , Wali was a Visiting Reader ( Associate Professor ) to the Department of Political Science, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto , and Chief Executive Officer, Development Strategies International ( DSI ) .

Ambassador Wali is a member of various committees of INEC and the Chairman of the Tenders Board .
Wali, a Muslim, Fulani, hails from Sanyima town in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State , in the North -West geopolitical zone of Nigeria .
Jega, who is leaving INEC with six National Commissioners whose tenure has equally expired, fought the greatest battle of his life, to preserve his good name, in conducting the2015 general elections.
When former President Goodluck Jonathannominated Jega as the Chairman of INEC in June, 2010 , it was borne out of the conviction that he was found worthy of a position that had a history of lacking in men that live up to the creed such an office demands — unimpeachable integrity and being a consistent stickler for truth.
It would be recalled that general elections were conducted under Jega ’ s supervision – 2011 , 2015 – each with improvement as the2015 general elections were accepted by all and sundry as the freest and fairest ever in the country ’s electoral history.
He is a former President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASUU ), and was an opponent of the Babangida military government in the early 1990s. Politically leaning towards the left, as ASUU President he was closely associated with the Nigeria Labour Congress ( NLC ), and continued that connection throughout his career.
On April 29 , 2010 he was guest lecturer for the NLC May Day celebration where he presented a paper on ’50 Years of Nationhood: Challenges of Good Democratic Governance, Credible Election and the Working Class’.
He is widely seen as an astute intellectual with a strong sense of ethics and morality

Tuesday Kate Henshaw’s Ex husband remarries the Lady he impregnated

Ever since her marriage to British born Roderick James Nuttal, her husband of 12 years, ended, Kate is well known to have moved on with her life; hosting gigs, participating in human interest movies, travel-ling the world, debuting a work out DVD and trying her hands in politics and getting it badly burnt.
However, not much has been heard about Rod, who before the collapse of the marriage, was known to be publicity shy. In fact many wondered if he was still in the country as he was hardly ever seen at social gatherings.

Well Rod who is the Managing Director of Ledrop Nigeria Ltd, agents for Jack Daniels and Piper Hiedsieck seems to have moved on with his life as well, after the brouhaha that greeted his marriage break up over accusations and counter accusations of infidelity.

Rod who has since settled down with the alleged subject of the marriage break down, recently stepped out of his comfort zone when he hosted a select audience to the launch of Jack Daniels Sinatra select, an ode to the lifetime friendship between Jack Daniels brand and the music legend, Frank Sinatra. The event took place at Avenue suites, Victoria Island. That Rod was looking every inch a happy and fulfilled man, would be stating the obvious.

Mozambique Scraps Anti-Gay Law

Mozambique legalized homosexuality on Monday when a new penal code came into force that swept away old Portuguese colonial laws, in a victory for campaigners for gay rights in Africa.

The old code, dating back to 1886, targeted anyone “who habitually engages in vices against nature”, but no known prosecutions were brought after Mozambique became independent in 1975. Breaking the law was theoretically punishable by up to three years of hard labour.

Dercio Tsandzana, an influential blogger and activist, said there had been no public discussion of homosexual rights. “The government instead abides by the external pressure put by some embassies and foreign donors,” he said.

Homosexuality is punishable by death in Sudan, Nigeria and Mauritania.

Policeman kills 2 nursing mothers in Edo during burial

CP Samuel Adegbuyi
CP Samuel Adegbuyi

It was double tragedy last Saturday at a burial ceremony in Ivhiokhile quarters in Fugar, the administrative headquarters of Etsako Central local government area of Edo State, when a trigger-happy policeman went on rampage, shot and killed two nursing mothers.

A two-month-old baby strapped to the back of his mother however escaped death by whiskers as the police bullet narrowly missed him before hitting his mother on the neck. She was later rushed to Irrua Specialist Hospital, Irrua, where she died Sunday morning.

The woman identified as Sandra Imhaku, was said to have lost her husband last year while expecting the baby.

PM News reports that the second victim, Mrs. Saliu, a native of Fugar who reportedly came with her husband from Warri, Delta State, to attend the funeral of her in-law, late Mr. Itu Joseph, was also hit by bullet during the shooting and died instantly.

The unidentified happy-trigger cop said to be one of two policemen who allegedly accompanied a traditional ruler from Uzairue clan to the burial ceremony, was said to have suddenly shot sporadically in a commando style, as he held the riffle with one hand while at the same time he used the other hand to open the door for the traditional ruler to enter his car as they were about leaving the funeral venue.

In the process, strayed bullets from the shooting hit and killed the two nursing mothers inside a canopy they were seated among other guests at the burial.
The incident was said to have triggered a pandemonium as angry youths descended on the policemen, who managed to escape.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Samuel Adegbuyi who confirmed the incident, however said a case of accidental discharge which led to the death of the victims was reported to him on Saturday, adding that, “the officer has been arrested and investigation has commenced.”

How Don Jazzy made Korede Bello, Reekado Banks & Di’ja stars in 1 year...

Mavin_Obi_Somto_Photography-82
Michael Collins Enebeli, widely known as Don Jazzy, is unarguably Nigeria’s most high profile music producer.
He is also credited with the conversion of former Trybe Records rapper, Dr Sid to a singer with one of the best songs in the land in the last 5 years. So soothing is the transition for the ‘Surulere’ singer that his days of struggling as a rap act is now almost entirely forgotten. One would think his Supreme Mavin Dynasty was already loaded enough with notable stars like Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid and D’Prince but that streak of nurturing raw talents propelled Don Jazzy into signing Korede Bello, Reekado Banks and Di’ja in February last year.
When the three young artistes, fondly called the Mavin 2.0, were unveiled early last year, many criticised the decision, saying it could derail the ambitions of the label. For many of the critics, Don Jazzy should have concentrated more on Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid and D’Prince and was biting more than he could chew by bringing on board 3 acts at a time none of them had released any popular song. Fast forward to just a year later, these young artistes have proved all doubters wrong, buy churning out hit songs in quick succession and becoming music sensations in Nigeria and beyond.
This achievement has once again underlined the status of Don Jazzy as a master of the game, whose mastery of production, technical know-how have combined well with the vocal ability of the three to turn them into stars in their own right. What’s responsible for his successes is his understanding of consumer psychology, his ability to listen and connect with music tastes and his relentless passion for making good music. Of course, the A&R exec in him, and the smart kids he’s surrounded himself with, have made sure he picked three kids who are exactly what the fans need at this time. Looking at the Nigerian music terrain, the feat becomes even more incredible considering how long it takes to nurture young talents before they blossom into established acts.
It is safe to say no label in recent history has achieved this feat. EME’s Shady and TrippleMG’s Tekno, who many of us thought would give the likes of Davido and Wizkid a big run for their money are still struggling to cement their status but Don Jazzy has succeeded in turning three fresh talents into stars in one year. These Mavins youngsters’ appeared on the scene last year but today, they are rubbing shoulders with the heavyweights in the game. They have been headlining shows across the country and even outside Nigeria. They have been on all major shows in the last one year and even performed at Ghana’s biggest annual musical event, Tigo Ghana Meets Naija where they thrilled the audience to no end.
The monster hit, ‘Dorobucci’ is the song that launched them into the music scene but they each of the have gone on to prove their individual skills by releasing their own hit songs. With their solo efforts, they have shown that they are ready to deliver even more. Korede Bello released his first single, ‘African Princess featuring Don Jazzy on February 28, 2014. The industry soon took notice following his performance in ‘Dorobucci.’ Upon the release of his hit single, Godwin, his fan base has tripled and suddenly, it is almost impossible for anyone to ask: ‘Who is Korede Bello?’ no matter the part of the country you reside. He has won the admiration of many ladies especially with his sweet sounding voice and the wink that gets ladies crazy.
Even female celebrities are not left out and some have gone as far as kissing him after watching him perform on stage on more than one occasion. He made headlines when Nigeria’s new President, Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter took the viral picture with him after he had entertained the audience during the new President’s inauguration dinner at the Villa.
Reekado Banks, who went by the stage name Spicy prior to his record deal with SMD, was declared the Rookie of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Headies. Reekado Banks premiered his first single, ‘Turn It Up’ on February 21, 2014 which happens to be the same day he got signed to Mavin Records.
The song features Tiwa Savage and was released as his first official single under Mavin Records. His other songs, ‘Chop Am’ and ‘Katapot’ are popular hits. Di’ja started her career in 2008. In 2012, she released a number of singles including ‘Dan’Iska (Rudebwoy)’, ‘Hold On’ (Ba Damuwa)’ and ‘How Can We Be Friends’.
On February 14, 2015, Don Jazzy announced the addition of the young woman to Mavin Records with her first official single under the label titled Yaro’ an up-tempo celebration of love and commitment against all odds. Her single, ‘Awww’ is one of the buzzing songs at the moment. While the winning formula adopted by Don Jazzy might not be so difficult to figure out; it is surely not all that easy to replicate.
This is even more so for record labels that only feast on the star power of established acts without the real desire to invest in the future by recruiting and nurturing talents. With his managing the established acts on one hand and his infinite sense of aligning with the wishes of music lovers on the other, labels with similar ambitions must be ready to become more aware of what the people, especially the young ones, like in this age of social media. And for Don Jazzy, you can hardly rule out a long winning streak ahead. It is not for nothing that the label is officially named the Supreme Mavin Dynasty....
