A fully loaded petrol tanker on Saturday  at Dabi in Kebbi, killing five people and injuring six others.
The tanker was heading to Mahuta in Kebbi when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the hilly Dabai junction resulting in the fall of the vehicle and subsequent explosion.

The accident also left 12 houses and some vehicles parked by the roadside destroyed by the resultant inferno.

The Dabai-Suru and Dabai- Mahuta road junction also serve as a market, especially for fresh fruits.

The Kebbi deputy governor, who also hails from Dabai, Alhaji Samaila Yombe, was among early visitors to the scene of the accident.

He pledged to offset the medical bills of the hospitalized.

The deputy governor said the State Emergency Management Agency had been directed to provide prompt relief material those who lost shops, household property, livestock and food crops to the inferno.

A resident of the area, El-Yakub Dabai, described the incident as unfortunate and hoped authorities would sensitise heavy duty vehicles on how drive through tricky terrain.

TB Joshua reacts to gay law in USA

Various reactions have come in the wake of America formally legalising gay marriage across the entirety of its borders but one of the most unusual has sprung from a popular Nigerian cleric.

After the historic announcement, T.B. Joshua tweeted a YouTube video showing a young man allegedly receiving ‘deliverance’ from a ‘homosexual demon’.

The clip titled, ‘Deliverance From Homosexual Demon’ shows a Nigerian from Imo State who identified himself as ‘Tedus’ receiving prayer at the church of T.B. Joshua in Lagos, Nigeria.

“I made him gay; I made him love men,” the young man says after being questioned by one of Joshua’s ministers, the clip clarifying that it was an ‘evil spirit’ speaking, which was allegedly behind his homosexual tendencies.

Tedus is subsequently ‘delivered’ and later shares his experiences about how the ‘devil’ of homosexuality had possessed him.

He narrated how, upon his return from a business trip in Asia, he had lodged in a hotel in Kenya where he met some male friends who suggested they go for a swim in the hotel pool.

“After swimming, I went back to my room and had a dream,” Tedus recounted. “I dreamt where I saw myself swimming in the same pool with naked men. When I woke up, I felt as if something entered into me. I started having passion for men.”

Upon returning to Cameroon where he was based, Tedus ‘sacked’ his fiancĂ© without any explanation. “I had no passion for her anymore – no more affection. She was astonished and asked so many questions which I couldn’t abswered. On the internet, I discovered so many things on gay websites and began downloading gay p*rnography. That’s how it started.”

According to Tedus, he saw his newfound homosexual lifestyle as ‘normal’ until his pastor in the church where he worked as a translator called him aside privately. “He told me that I had to go to Nigeria to The SCOAN and that I needed deliverance.”

Tedus reluctantly agreed. After making the journey in December 2013, when the time arrived for people to receive prayer in the church service, he described a sense of anger welling within him as one of Joshua’s pastors approached.

“When he prayed for me, I lost control,” he described. “I knew I was talking but I never knew what I was saying.”

Since receiving prayer, Tedus testified that all homosexual feelings have left him. “Those feelings for men are no longer there; I have real passion for the opposite sex. I couldn’t control the former passion.”

The clip then jumps to almost one year later where Tedus returns, this time with a young lady whom he introduced as his fiancé.

“The Bible says that a man ought to be with a woman. After my deliverance, I travelled to Imo State and there I met this wonderful lady and proposed to her,” he said, with a large smile, testifying that is life has changed ‘tremendously’ since receiving prayer.

“My advice is that if you come across somebody that may be having the same problem, you shouldn’t criticise them but rather pray for them,” he said.

“People just believe it’s a normal thing; it’s not just ordinary. There is a force or spirit behind it. The only way out of this is deliverance. It is like a virus. Once it gets into you, it is only deliverance from Jesus Christ that can get you out of it.”

In his comments, T.B. Joshua quoted Matthew 7:1, stating that Christians should ‘talk salvation, not condemnation’.

“God hates sin, not sinners,” he insisted. “When I say, 'Do not judge so that you will not be judged', I mean we should hate sin, not the sinner because sinners can change. If you have killed a sinner by judging him, there will be no opportunity for change. Sinners can be delivered. We should hate the act, not the people because our battle is not against flesh and blood but against the 'spirit beings' that cause all these acts.”

He then went further to clarify his stance: “The Bible is my standard. If my parents were one, I would not have been given birth to.”

A DESPERATE MEMO TO PRESIDENT BUHARI BY DELE MOMODU

Your Excellency, I write to you today with a heavy heart. The reason should be obvious. I was one of those latter day converts to Buharism, a political philosophy that believes in the reincarnation of former leaders in the days of tribulation.

You were never the first man to resurrect from retirement and near political oblivion. General Olusegun Obasanjo bounced back from prison to Aso Rock Villa. In nearby Benin Republic, former military dictator and strongman, Mathieu Kerekou who had served as maximum ruler for about 17 incredible years, came back to defeat incumbent President, Nicephore Soglo in a 1990 election. He led his country for another ten years and almost got another five-year term but for the age barrier that disqualified him.

It is normal for Africans to run towards the wise elders of the village when trouble comes knocking.
That is one of the major reasons Nigerians in their millions voted with their feet and thumbs to elect you President. Many of those who supported you did so for several other reasons and you must understand that they were mainly not members of your political party, APC. So, apart from your age, they backed you because they believed in your impeccable pedigree as an incorruptible and honourable man, a strict disciplinarian, a Scrooge who would not fritter away our meagre resources, a scourge of rogues and prodigal sons, a metamorphosed tyrant now a born-again democrat, and so on and so forth. Nigerians ardently placed their hopes in you and fervently prayed you won’t disappoint them.

This is the principal reason I have decided to send you this desperate memo today before some despicable politicians tarnish your hard-earned reputation and truncate this beautiful chance again.
Sir, let me say right away that the goodwill garnered during your campaigns and the jubilation that heralded your recent victory are fast fading and you need to, as a matter of urgency, convince the people of Nigeria that you’re now ready to hit the ground running. They are not going to listen to excuses since you had 30 years after quitting the high office to onerously prepare for the job again. For them it is immaterial that you met an empty treasury or that you are mostly surrounded by selfish, corruptive influences and impostors. As I mentioned in my earlier epistles to you, Nigerians have become totally impatient and what they expect of you is tantamount to performing the miracle of turning water into wine or raising Lazarus from the dead. You cannot afford to waste any second before displaying the sterner stuff you’re reputed to be made of.

I had encouraged you not to be afraid of taking charge of the Party that brought you to power or tackling the politicians that claimed to have helped you in the process. I had imagined that you know the ways of our politicians by now and thought you knew how to handle them. I had told you matter-of-factly that you may have to step on some powerful toes in order to achieve anything tangible. The worst that may likely happen is for people to say and accuse you of dictatorial proclivity which won’t be new in your lexicon or to be threatened with impeachment and all-what-not. But trust me, no evil shall befall you for as long as you carry the people along in your crusade and do not pander to the whims and caprices of members of the privilegentsia.

There is no doubt that the present imbroglio in your Party is as a result of your lukewarm attitude to Party issues thinking you could merely concentrate on nation-building while others deal with political intrigues. However, it is not always as simple as that. As you can now see, you don’t seem to be on the same page with your Party. While you were busy agonising over the myriad of problems besetting Nigeria, many of your presumed disciples were busy fighting over positions and control of power the way babies squabble over lollipops. They have studiously forgotten the change mantra and the huge expectations that made the electorate to troop out in droves and cast their votes for you and the Party.
The moment you became the President-elect, you should have readied your manacles for all would-be trouble makers.

You should have sent out a powerful message to those politicians who may wish to act above the law. But the moment you appeared ready to abdicate some of your leadership responsibilities to them, the obvious lacuna gave them the needed impetus to take charge and cut you adrift. Your political advisers, if any, should have prepared you for the offensive. There is no way you are going to fight and survive the battle ahead if the political class see you as a man they can easily bully. You cannot sit on the fence. Whilst your decision not to interfere in the affairs of another arm of Government, the legislature, is commendable and indeed your constitutional duty, you must make it clear to your Party that the same non-interference must apply to them.

Our people may have voted for your Party but they also voted for the individuals that the Party entrusted its mandate to including you. Just as there is a limit to how the Party can control you in the exercise of your executive functions and those you choose to assist you in the fulfilment of those functions, so also must you tell the Party chieftains that there is a limit as to how much the leadership structure and duties of the legislative arm can be controlled. If you are ambiguous about this, then you are inviting your Party leadership to write a letter to you categorically stating not only those you must appoint as your Ministers and Special Advisers but also those that you must not work with under any guise. I am sure you would not tolerate that. In the same vein you must not tolerate Party interference in the legislature. Change has come, please imbibe it!

In essence it is incumbent on you to deal with the issues arising from tensions created by party supremacy, parliamentary democracy and above all constitutionality. There is a delicate balance to be struck between these competing interests though constitutionality must eventually prevail. However, even constitutionality is subordinated to national interest, because that is the most important interest of all.

Your Party has a lot to learn from the tragedy which was invited upon itself by advertence of the former ruling Party, PDP. As a mark of respect to your status and office, your Party should have adopted your instinct and temperament immediately you conceded that the elections of principal officers at the National Assembly were “somewhat constitutional.” Even if internally aggrieved, like mortals may invariably be, your Party hierarchy should not have washed their dirty linen in public knowing the full implications of the backlash that might splash and smear your collective image.

APC should have done what PDP failed to do when Governor Rotimi Amaechi won the Chairmanship of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum by instantly recognising the leadership of the National Assembly while seeking ways to ameliorate the unfortunate saga. No reasonable parent would voluntarily kill a recalcitrant child. There is always another opportunity for penitence and atonement.

I expected the crisis to escalate once the warring factions stuck arrogantly to their positions and neither was ready to bulge. Had APC accepted its fate with equanimity, I’m certain this peculiar mess would have been exterminated. Had Saraki and Dogara shown magnanimity in victory some of the truculent malice expressed by certain leaders may have also been mellowed.

Say what you will, the PDP had its fair dose of political migraine and rambunctiousness but it accepted certain realities and moved on. The ones they failed to accept led to their cataclysmic fall. The mutually destructive suspicion in APC should have been nipped in the bud for your sake. The burden you currently carry is heavier than an elephant and I don’t think you need or deserve this kind of nuisance distraction. The leadership of the National Assembly should also calm down by reaching out to their angry Party chieftains. There is nothing to gain in fighting a perennial war. Once upon a time, they were all friends and members of the same family. It is never too late to embrace peace and reunite. Now that we know what the bone of contention is, no one should be victimised for belonging to whatever factions that exist.

I have read endless arguments for and against the pugilists in APC and my candid advice is that you need to appoint your cabinet and aides now. The sooner you assemble and send forth your foot-soldiers the better for our polity to begin the healing process. Right now our nation appears to be rudderless and floundering and this should not be the case. What is left for you to do is to quickly bring all the gladiators together and see how you can apply some balm on frayed nerves. The Federal Government has humongous largesse to disburse so it should not be too difficult to appease the juggernauts. When that is sorted, you should draw your own plans and let your people know your roadmap. Your job would be much easier if you surround yourself with people who can look at you straight in the eye and say the truth no matter how bitter. Most of our leaders failed because they fell victims of sweet-talking scammers.

It is very essential that your Party sees and embrace you as their father and not the other way round. Whether you like it or not, and whether others in your Party want to accept it or not, you are the de facto national leader of your Party. You are the President and Commander in Chief of our country. Yes, you ARE the capo di tutti capi. You therefore cannot be subservient to any other person. You must immediately take upon this role and assume that mantle. Please feel free to lay down the law and if occasion demands, enforce our law. That is what leaders do. Ambivalence or hesitancy will simply not do!

You have the next four years minus one month and time is ticking away dutifully.
Equally important is the fact that you are more of a social crusader than a politician and your Party ought to note this fact and understand that it can’t be business as usual. Your Party leveraged on your uncommon reputation to gain POWER. Sir, you can’t afford to evaporate such stupendous equity just like that. You have demonstrated enough tolerance but the time has come to repudiate our propensity for rascality.

The task ahead is so gargantuan and it would require all hands to be on deck. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I reiterate that the first priority, apart from national security, should be how to reduce the atrocious costs of running government in Nigeria. Until you achieve that sir, the Muhammed Alis of Nigeria will never stop their boxing tournaments in parliaments and elsewhere.

The fight is for cash and not for any selfless services. Many won’t bother to contest if they think it is not lucrative. I don’t know how you plan to do this but it has to be done somehow and thankfully there are many methods that you can deploy. I’m glad you hope to retrieve some of the stolen billions. You need some serious cash, Sir. The challenges ahead would dissipate if you can raise the finances needed to tackle them.

I trust that God has deliberately raised you up at this time as a veritable example to mankind that being honest is not a crime and we have a lot to learn and cheer from your miraculous victory. May God help you to carry this cross successfully.

Pete Edochie Denies Accusations Of Fathering A Child Oustside Wedlock

Veteran and Iconic Nollywood act, Pete Edochie who is one of the pioneers of Nollywood has  reacted to claims by a Kenyan who claimed the highly respected thespian is his dad.
In an interview with Vanguard News, the actor denied accusations of him fathering a child outside wedlock.
He responded asking why the child in question hasn’t shown up if it were true.
’Why didn’t he come to Nigeria?’ Edochie asked rhetorically.
‘I have never been to Kenya before. Where did I meet his mother? I am not a wayward person. Peter has been my Personal Assistant for over 17 years. If I were a sexually adventurous person, he wouldn’t have stayed with me for this long. But each time somebody calls me he picks up the phone. Somebody brought the story from the internet and showed it to me,’ he said.
‘One slim character like that. He looked like a cattle rearer. He said, “somehow I think Pete Edochie is my father.” Well! Let him come to Nigeria and meet his father. But he hasn’t embarked on the journey yet. Like I said, such things don’t bother me. I got married at 22 years. I have never involved myself in tense extra-marital affairs”, he added.

On him being involved in an extra marital affair, Pete had this to say;
“It’s not necessary. We are all weak as men, but you see, if you decide to pursue a torrid extra-marital relationship, what will you be proving to people? However, I don’t involve myself in situations that will make me to compromise my integrity and that of my family”.

UNN Student Gets Scholarship From Gospel Singer Frank Edwards For Drawing His Portrait (Photos)

Today could be the happiest day of Obinna Kalu of Fine Arts(100l) as he bounced home with a full free scholarship grant from the Youth Friendly resource centre programme that held between yesterday night and this morning at UNN which featured Frank Edwards as the guest.
It is obvious Kalu know how to make good use of opportunities because as everyone was planning to attend the program, the guy was preparing what to present. It was therefore surprising to everyone when mid way between the event, in the frenzy of Frank’s performance, the boy walked towards him and handed him a beautiful portrait of him.
In response to that, Frank granted him free scholarship grant immediately to carry him until he finish his university education . He also promised him 100, 000 yearly grant apart from the school fees. This is to actually appreciate the boy for being talented.
Another girl, Kasiri also got sponsorship from Frank the same time for performing an excellent song with her guitar. Meanwhile, UNN was agog with activities yesterday.
I think it is good to have a talent and to use it at the appropriate time.

Femi Otedola's daughter, DJ Cuppy finally addresses the controversy her political appointment as Tourism ambassador sparked last year

DJ Cuppy
Billionaire Femi Otedola’s 22 year old daughter has carved a niche for herself as one of the best DJs in the music industry. Florence, aka DJ Cuppy, is our celebrity for the weekend.

In a recent interview with YNaija, the beautiful entertainer who grew up in Ilupeju, Lagos and had a cheerful and bright childhood, talked music, handling fame, being Femi Otedola’s daughter and more.
She further talked about the poitical appointment she bagged last year...yeah, her haters need to chill cos she "worked hard for it".
See excerpts below:

How the name ‘DJ Cuppy evolved’?
Cuppy: Such an interesting question! I used to be called DJ Cupcake actually, back when I was 16. I mean, people used to call me Cups, Cupstar, Cuppito, etc… As time has progressed and I became more professionally involved in music I decided to drop the ‘DJ’ and the ‘cake’, and ended up at Cuppy!
dj cuppy and aka 463A7781
How do you all the attention and fame that come with being Nigeria’s first female DJ.
Cuppy: By staying true to myself and not forgetting who my parents brought me up to be.
You have accomplished quite a lot within a short time, even than several other DJs that started long before, what’s the secret?
Cuppy: I honestly think its down to God and of course hard work and persistence. Plus I have an EPIC team behind me. Never give up in chasing your dreams!
DJ-Cuppy
Staying humble despite being born with a silver spoon
Cuppy: It’s nice to hear that I’m perceived as a humble person. I think it’s all down to my upbringing; my parents have always encouraged us to respect and treat others, as we would like to be treated. I had a normal upbringing and many people forget that I was born and raised in Ilupeju!
You have travelled round the world! Which is your favorite city?
Cuppy: Yes it’s true I’ve been to amazing cities around the world. I loved soaking myself in the Arab culture in Dubai, I also loved visiting Nairobi, Kenya and seeing a different part of Africa. I am hoping to explore cities in Africa a lot more and I have to say my favorite city is Lagos! I just love coming back home.
Cuppy13
What inspired your Marie Antoinette era theme graduation party which held last year
Cuppy: Yes it was a fantastic graduation party and launch of the first edition of House Of Cuppy. I studied French at school and speak French so I think that was where the Marie Antoinette inspiration came from. This year House of Cuppy II was inspired by the Motherland itself Africa!
Why are you still furthering your education despite having an amazing skill that most ladies cannot even boast of.
Cuppy: Yes I am currently undertaking a Masters degree in Music Business. I believe that furthering my skills will only do more good than harm and help to futher my knowledge in my chosen career path. It is not just about DJ-ing, there is a business side in the entertainment industry which I hope to be able to tap into as time goes by which was why I started my own content and production company called Red Velvet Music Group. I believe in educating yourself at all times, we can never know enough!
DJ-Cuppy-Apri
Last year,  you were appointed Nigeria’s tourism ambassador and it sparked quite a lot of positive and negative reactions. Many insisted that you didn’t merit the title, as it was only given to you because of your father’s affluence and well known status quo in the country…
Cuppy: It was an honour to be appointed as Nigeria’s Tourism ambassador and I have thoroughly enjoyed flying the flag for Nigeria wherever I am in the world.
I worked hard and will continue to work hard to earn a name and position for myself.
Were there ever times you wished things were different for you and didn’t have to be referred to as the billionaire’s daughter?
Cuppy: I am and will always be proud to be an Otedola regardless of the criticisms I face. I just try to look at things in a positive light.
cuppy2
Nigerians heavily criticized Governor Adams Oshiomhole marriage to Iara Fortes last month, many claimed the new bride was in the marriage for financial gains while several others were not pleased with the age gap between the couple. What’s your take on this?
Cuppy: Love is something I believe is personal. You can’t help who or what you fall in love with. Many people criticized me for falling in love with music and not following my Father’s line of profession but what you love is what you love. As long as it/they make you happy!
