This what you get when you mix fashion from France and Benin. Rising fashion label Mimine Ag is here with its Spring/Summer 2016 collection for your viewing pleasure.
Created by Paris-born Benenise designer Yasmine Agbantou, the label is birthed out of her nickname, and the first 2 letters from her surname. The key target audience for her womenswear label is the sexy, independent, fearless, strong and fierce woman. Her brand preaches “loving and owning your body bye wearing what suits you in order for you to have this necessary confidence to succeed in everything you do.“
The collection, titled “Meet Donna“, is inspired by the initiations of the Dogon tribe in Congo, and reflects the evolution of a young girl named Donna. “Excised at age 13 as passage from childhood to womanhood, she defies the boundaries by breaking through the norms of her tribe and becoming a symbol of evolution within a culture. Her evolution is portrayed through the very sexy cut of the garments and the choice of fabrics revealing part of the body. The prints and the fabric manipulations are the symbol of her pride to belonging to her tribe.“
